MORE FUN THAN A BARREL OF MONKEYS

"I was obliged to download this superb book on the beach in Croatia recently, despite having more than fifty unread novels on my Kindle already. (I know, I know, but I have an irrational fear of being without something to read, I hoard real books and digital ones.) I felt compelled to download this particular book after spending the first day and a half of my holiday listening to my wife shrieking with laughter and watching the tears roll down her face as she writhed about on the sunbed next to me. I simply had to read it myself, to find out if it really was that good, or if my dearly beloved was simply indulging too heavily in the 'cocktail of the day'. Download it I did, and her one word review, (GENIUS!') to me turned out to be not in the least over stated. I won't bother with a synopsis, you can read that in the book description, I will simply tell you what I thought of it. It is the funniest book I have ever read, the characters are all believable (even the dead ones), likeable (even the evil ones), and three dimensional. The story takes place in various locations, from sleepy Dorset, to the big city, rural Spain, and even Purgatory, Great writing is capable of transporting the reader to anywhere, by this standard, this is indeed great writing. If you enjoy a tremendous, imaginative, story, told with passion and affection, and if you like laughing until your face aches, your stomach hurts, and your face is wet with tears, and if you don't mind nearby people staring at you with amazement and amusement, then you must buy this book. You will not regret it. If you read this book and don't pull a muscle somewhere in your face, then you would probably qualify for a job as a lower level administrative assistant somewhere in the bowels of purgatory."

"I've just finished reading this extraordinary book I downloaded it for free and I'm so glad I did . I didn't really know what I was in for with this book but I've got to say I found it refreshingly odd funny and hard to put down. So thanks T.J. Brown I loved this book and hope to read more of your stories"

I LOVE THIS AUTHORS STYLE OF WRITING
"I love this authors style of writing.. Dry sense of humour and a quirky style which kept me reading well into the night to see how the plot would develop. He's got such a vivid imagination for some of those characters, his descriptions brought them to life in my mind. and the plot was unusual and a refreshing change for me. This has got the makings of a great series. It's been ages since I really did laugh out loud while reading so more please... and soon."

BLOODY BRILLIANT!
"Well, I wasn't expecting that; what a brilliant, funny and daft book, I couldn't put it down! The characters are excellent and the storyline is ridiculous and hilarious which is why I love it. I urge everyone to read this book and I can guarantee you'll love it too. I actually feel bereft now I've finished it, hurry up with the next one Tim!"

COR! ROLLICKING!
"This a great read; entertaining, fun, creative, different. It’s a bit like taking a ride in car which drives itself – you never quite know where it’s going to take you. But no matter what mood you’re in, it satisfies.
I’ve never read any Harry Potter, but I would imagine it’s probably like Harry Potter for adults. In places Brown has an eye for an older, gentler England, but one which is under threat from some thoroughly nasty individuals and the narrative twists and turns like a runaway Citroën DS and within it he introduces some delightful and not so delightful characters. The plot is imaginitive, never dull and will appeal to many different generations. It’s worth the descriptions of ‘The Bonetaker’ alone.
There’s a real talent here for the future and the door is wide open for a great sequel or second book. Bring it on."

MY FAMILY AND EMPLOYERS ARE NOT HAPPY
"I have had a Kindle for about three years now and in that time I have had many books that have taken me months to read, two pages a night and ZZZZ. I cannot remember the last time I read a book that I just could not put down.
The Unhappy Medium was definetly a book I could not put down. All my favourite authors are fully read and I struggle to find new ones but I found a belter here in T.J. Brown. As I said in the heading I have been a bit incommunicado for the last 2 days and have ignored the Family and the persistent emails from the boss. But now I'm finished and lonely and sad again, nothing to read.
Dr Newton Barlow is the perfect hero, wisecracking his way through his whole world order being ripped apart and then taking to the new situation like the proverbial duck to water. This was a brilliant book, fast paced and breathless. I look forward to many other adventures of Dr Barlow, C'mon T.J. get yer finger oot,"

EPOCH-TROTTING SUPERNATURAL ROMP
"It's one thing to write a funny book - and this is certainly a very funny book - but it's another to weave in advanced science and a far-reaching roam through history and make it all seem necessary to the story. That's the great thing about this book: the obvious joy taken in knowledge and the world itself serves to season a supernatural romp with something altogether mature. It could easily be a series - let's hope it is - and any one of its themes would be enough for most writers. Ambitious, eh - but successful too. Eminently readable and like nothing quite else out there, this is great fun."

THE UNHAPPY MEDIUM WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY
"The Unhappy Medium has everything I look for in a comedic fantasy/SF novel. The protagonist is a skeptic (think Mythbusters, James Randi, Harry Houdini et al) who finds that reality is...not as he had always assumed. Call it supernatural noir with a dash of historical (not to mention prehistorical) fiction for flavor, along the lines of the Bobby Dollar series by Tad Williams, the Inferno series by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, the Reality Dysfunction series by Peter F. Hamilton, or the Ghost Trilogy by L. E. Modesitt.
Although the novel is a self-contained story, the author also sets up what looks to be a bang-up series. Highly recommended to any SF, fantasy, or horror fan who likes their humor dry and their spooks snarky. In the interest of avoiding spoilers, I’ll just say if any of this sounds like your cup of tea (with a nod to the charming UK and continental settings, including castles *and* pubs, not to mention the lovingly restored WWI-era tank that plays a role), grab this book!"

HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS--UNHAPPY MEDIUM IS A WILD RIDE
"I must say, when I received a complimentary copy of Unhappy Medium from author T.J. Brown, I had no idea I would be in for such a wild ride. Brown is a master at creating an unlikely action-packed adventure liberally laced with droll wit. The manner in which the humor is used was so understated that I found myself backing up to reread passages--a metaphoric double-take. Join Dr. Newton Barlow as he takes on a job that is the antithesis of everything he has professed to believe--but use a safety harness. Unhappy Medium is full of unexpected twists and unforgettable characters. Enjoy!"

VERY FUN
"This was such a delightful read! My life's so busy I don't allow myself the joy of reading fiction often, so when I do it must be entertaining. This certainly was. The story flowed well and kept my interest, the characters were unique and enjoyable. The writing was wry and witty and had me laughing out loud several places (which drew the attention of my husband and children, so I had to read them parts--makes a good read-aloud, too). As a skeptical atheist woman with a scientific bent, I loved the clash of science, skepticism and the supernatural. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a casual, fun read. I'm looking forward to whatever Mr. Brown has next for us."

IF PRATCHETT AND GAIMAN WROTE A BOOK TOGETHER...
"It wouldn't be better than this. Absurdly funny, but with characters suffering pretty much the same problems we all do . Nice, tight, story - loved it from top to bottom."

"This book starts a little slowly, but like an old Citroen, gets up to speed and then barrels out of control to a wonderful climax. A thoroughly enjoyable book, well written with believable characters in unbelievable settings. Well done!"
